Memory + Souvenirs

Souvenirs are often overlooked and dismissed as irrelevant pieces of ephemera but they are vital and tangible reminders of specific memories. Deborah is an expert on historical souvenirs and our needs to record our memories through objects. She has an extensive collection of royal souvenirs and ceramic seaside souvenirs.

Filling the Void

In 2007/8 Deborah worked on an extensive written and visual narrative on serious illness, death and grief. This charts her own experience, as an only child, of the process of caring for an elderly, terminally ill parent and the subsequent death. This is both a harrowing and enriching account, in which the visual, in paintings and collages, take over when words are inadequate.
