25 September 2010 - The Bauhaus Dessau, 1979
Deborah will present a paper on the influence of the Bauhaus on post war design on both sides of the Iron Curtain. This is based on her experience at the Bauhaus, Dessau GDR in 1979, and take place at the Study Day: Cold War Cities to be held at the Centre for the Study of Cultural Memory at the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of London. Deborah has been appointed editor of the Plastiquarian, the journal of the Plastics Historical Society. The latest issue, published October 2008, is to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the discovery of polyethylene and the foundation of thr British Plastics Federation. Plastics and the History of Toys
On the 7th Februrary, Deborah will be speaking to the Plastics Historical Society about the role of plastics in the design and manufacture of toys. Deborah is giving a talk on Ingenious Women at a joint meeting between the William Shipley Group and the Imperial College Women's Club. The talk takes place on October 10th at 5:30pm, in the Meeting Room on the 4th floor of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Bessemer Building, Imperial College.
